>the real me< is a collaboration between deeper shades recordings artists salvatore agrosi (coming of the very successful spirit ep) from italy and florida based vocalist dennis baker (featured on the >hypnotize you< releases). the four remixes selected for this 12 inch are ranging from a driving and bass heavy peak time dub by label head lars behrenroth (which btw. has been one of lars secret weapons and created a lot of anticipation for this release) via salvatores stripped down interpretation as his alter ego toto to an emotionally charged atmospheric builder by marco fracasso.

mark henning is back! back on cityfox! a classic acapella and marks distinctive sound collide, result-ing in a huge tune, sounding old school and fresh at the same time. not just the vocals are telling a story here, the synths and bassline add their part to complete the track. the second original trojan is the secret weapon and club bomb, the dark side of the release, because too much sunshine is never healthy. afrilounge take it a step deeper and its big string melody sounds as clean as and sparkles like the sunrise itself. the 1998 edit incorperates the rhythms and vibes of classic house and techno from the era when it all began. thick, groovy basslines and pulsing pads laid out over infectious percussion make this track an instant classic.

edits may be dead, but just when your elitist attitude comes to a head and you think you re on top of your game, there will always be someone deeper, faster and still motivated enough to rekindle your digging desires. where blackdisco volume 10 saw the return of lovefingers and nitedog, volume xi pushes forward into new territory (and with a new aesthetic) by welcoming a group of three deep diggers who shun musical trends and their inherent fakers. dea, albion & spacelex combine their vinyl-mining efforts to unearth some real diamonds from the rough. deas cut malaka is a floater with a funky sailboat vibe, while his complimentary cut taubat takes the tired jungle disco vibe to new level with its triumphant synth-led chorus, an absolute stunner that could be extended for 20 minutes. on the flip, albion spoons water over the coals, steaming up the joint with an uptempo percussion bomb as if santana had a disco secret, and spacelex rides us out with a sexy rock groove complete with mysterious male voiceover, almost as if someone lowered the volume to whisper in your ear.
